Online Prevent duty training modules

The Education and Training Foundation have developed a suite of free online training modules designed for FE and training providers to raise awarenss of their responsibilities in complying with the Prevent duty. This is in recognition that all staff, governors and board members are required to be Prevent duty trained in the new Prevent duty Guidance for FE. The modules provide awareness training in context of Prevent duty responsibilities in FE and training.

New resources and training from the Education and Training Foundation in additon to the current online training modules we have added modules for:

It should take about 30 minutes to complete both the training module and the assessment. If you achieve a pass on the assessment you will be able to print off a Foundation certificate recognising your achievement.

The original modules are still available. You should choose the appropriate module for your role:

Some staff may have a dual role e.g. governor or board member and one of the other three roles. Governing body or board clerks may decide to complete the leader and managers’ module and/or the governor module. It should be taken into account that much of the material is inevitably similar.

The Foundation has created these modules with the aim of making them accessible to the widest range of users, regardless of disability or the device they use to view it.

Each institution should have a designated Prevent Officer – usually the Safeguarding Officer – you should make sure that you know who this is how to contact them if you have a concern in relation to preventing extremism.

We also a Provider Access System which allows providers to buy licences to upload the names of those within their organisation who need to take the courses and download data reports on those who have started or completed the course. This minimises administrative and management time and cost in collecting the evidence of those who have achieved the Prevent duty awareness training certificate. If you are interested in this offer then please click here for further details with details of this system or email prevent@etfoundation.co.uk with your contact details.

FE Prevent coordinators - These are based in each of the nine regions and can provide support to FE providers. there are currently two vacancies in the North Eastern region and Eastern Regions. These details will be updated when the posts are filled. Some providers already have good contacts with their local police and local authority coordinators. They may continue to use these contacts.

The Home Office has produced a new Prevent e-Learning product to provide an introduction to Prevent aimed at objective two of the Prevent strategy - supporting vulnerable people. It has been developed to raise awareness of and explain Prevent within the wider safeguarding context

Channel Training. The Police College has also developed a training module which raises awareness of the Channel support programme. Providers may find that this complements the ETF training modules.
